Our High Performance Ring and Pinions are made from 8620 steel, are CNC throughout, have index tooth spacing, central contact pattern, proprietary computer controlled hear treatment. Our AX Series Ring and pinion is a production lightened gear set with up to 2 pounds of rotating weigh removed before heat treatment.. Less rotating weight = faster acceleration and higher speeds. The Ax is also available in a Pro Gear application of 9310 steel with your choice of normal and large pinion.

Our High Performance Ring and Pinions come in many sizes and ratios. If we don't have what you want it probably does not exist.

What's The DIFF?
A commonly asked question is what is the difference between the Motive Gear Stock Performance, Motive Gear Performance and the AX Series ring and pinions. Here it is in a nutshell:

The Motive Gear Stock Performance is an excellent high quality light duty O.E. quality replacement ring and pinion. It has 8620 steel, CNC throughout and computer controlled heat treatment. Many installers have reported that this ring and pinion series seems beefier and quieter than OE gears. An excellent choice for both on and off road applications. These gears are found in everyday automobiles, trucks and vans. These gears are tough enough for UROC racers like Craig Stumph and Bart Jacobson.

Motive Gear Performance High Performance Series has more features built into it on top of the 8620 steel, CNC throughout and computer controlled heat treatment as the Stock Performance series. They are also double lapped, have index tooth spacing and central contact patterning. This High Performance Series comes in a huge range of ratios. These gears are used in stock car racing, drag racing, the toughest off road racing, sports cars, muscle cars, trucks and everyday automobiles when the driver demands the highest quality and performance.

Motive Gear Performance AX Series has 2 versions:
Both are production lightened, both are for Ford 9 Inch rear ends.. One is a Pro Series gear set for big guns drag racing. It is made of 9310 steel. It is a metal that handles huge amounts of torque slammed into it on the starting line and comes back for more. It has all the features as the high performance series and it can have a Smith and Wesson Micro Polishing process done to it to decrease friction and extend life. Rotating weigh removed prior to heat treatment

The other High Performance AX version is made of  8620 steel, has all the make quality of the High Performance Series and has up to two pounds of rotating weight removed before heat treatment. Used in stock car racing, drag racing and is catching on in off road racing.
