Weekend Summary

There are a number of components that make a winning package for the racers in the CORR Series.  For the Ben Wandahsega Off-Road Racing team the luck was spread pretty thin and played a big part in the outcome of rounds 5/6 of the Lucas Oil Pro/Sportsman event in Bark River this past weekend.

Despite running on 6 cylinders from the time the green flag dropped on Saturday, Ben in his Forest County Potawatomi/Toyo Tires truck was able to pull off an incredible 4th place finish.  While points leader Dan Baudoux had similar problems facing a 9th place finish.  This made SkyJacker racer Ross Hoek with his round 5 win a potential points leader by the end of the weekend.

With a fresh motor on Sunday Team Wandahsega was ready to take the green flag and try to take back the weekend with a hopeful win in front of the home town crowd.  At the half-way point of the race Ben was making his move up to the race leader Ross Hoek making up huge amounts of time as each lap passed.  With a 3 second advance on Hoek in just one lap Ben was sure to make things exciting as the race progressed towards the final 4 laps.  Once again luck came up short and the left rear shock broke on the Forest County Potawatomi/Toyo Tires Chevy rendering it nearly helpless on every part of the track except the straight sections.

In the end, the Ben Wandahsega Off-Road Racing Team came up short of a win but definitely not short of pride as the big red Chevy crossed the finish lap with another 4th place finish of the weekend putting Ben firmly in 3rd place and only 2 points out of 2nd in the points standiings.   Dan Baudoux former points leader found himself in the swamp not able to complete a single lap and a TG finish for round 6.  Ken Hallgren found himself back on the podium with a 2nd place finish and possibly the best race of his career.
